Sara Swartz
Fūs’d Glass Art
About the Artists - Sara Swartz, Bozeman
Sara started working with glass at the age of 14 - making stained glass ornaments, earning a summer trip to Europe through her involvement in French club. As Sara’s journey through life continued, she developed more interest in fabrics and reeds - sewing, alterations, upholstery, and basket weaving. She raised her family and ventured back to the medium of glass art. Sara enjoys all aspects of the glass fusion process - cutting, assembling, kiln-firing several times, and the thrill of each creative piece being received. Glass is mesmerizing as light moves through it, and it does embellish a home/work environment in many functional ways… and is always an admirable conversation piece!
Sara’s aim is to create Functional Art - to display, and be useful! Enjoy your special glass design wares for serving appetizers, fruits, veggies & dips, sushi rolls - a creative spoon rest and coffee table trinkets.
Custom designs for personalized gifts are a favorite to create, as well as window/door inserts, privacy panels, and sconces. Watch how the light enhances and changes the brilliant glass colors and reflections.
Sara is a Bozeman outdoor enthusiast & her 4 adult children are 2nd generation Bobcats!
Here is the fusion process …
Each piece begins with a clear glass as the base. All glass is hand-cut and kiln fired for 12 hours, up to 1500 degrees. Once the glass is ‘fused’ together and flat, each piece is “slumped on a mold for 8 hours, to 1280 degrees.
