Coco Costigan
A Ceramic Sculptor:
Coco specializes in fine art sculptures as well as functional pottery.
Coco Costigan is a sculptor and potter. Working primarily in clay since the early 90’s, she earned a Bachelor’s Fine Arts in Ceramic Art in 1996 from California State University of Long Beach.
In 2000 Coco founded Santa Monica Mudd, a studio/gallery, in her hometown of Santa Monica, California. The studio was a hub of community engagement, hosting local artists exhibits and serving as space where she continued to create and teach ceramics. In 2011 Coco relocated her studio/gallery to her home in Malibu, California, where she, and her husband Tom, would raise their two children while continuing to teach and create in clay.
In 2019 Coco and her family relocated to Bozeman, Montana. Inspired by her mother’s family history, she is steeping herself in her heritage with a focus on her family background dating back to the 1890’s in Butte and Livingston Montana.
Immersing herself into the local Bozeman artisan’s community, Coco has participated in local venues such as; The Sweet Pea Festival, S.L.A.M. Festival, and the Emerson Holiday Bazaar. Coco is currently a member/artist at the Artists’ Gallery located at The Emerson Center for Arts and Culture.
Coco’s work had been nationally recognized in juried shows through the National Council of Education for Ceramic Arts, the Archie Bray - Brick Yard Festival in Helena, Montana, and the Ink and Clay in Pomona, CA. Her work has also been featured at: Rapscallion - Board Riders, in Bozeman, Montana; Austin Art Projects, in Palm Desert, CA.; Charles Arnoldi Studio in Venice, CA; Coco was a member of the Artists’ Unite in Malibu, CA., as well as several other galleries and venues throughout Southern California.
